STEM Learning

CTK Nursery School is at the forefront in introducing pre-k students to a hands-on approach to STEM learning.  Our outdoor botany classroom, complete with greenhouse and composter, won the Orange and Rockland STEM Classroom Grant award in 2021.  Children learn how bulbs and plants grow, different types of plants such as the Venus Fly Trap and how plant waste can be recycled into nutrient rich compost.  In addition to our botany segment, our children are introduced to hermit crabs and their habitat, butterfly development and release, turning apples into applesauce, and seeing cell details through the lens of a microscope.  New this year will be an Ant Farm, coming soon!  Learning is an adventure and we are excited to inspire that message.
